Buckets....

So my little sister (no she is not my blood sister, but my little sister none the less...) called me last night and asked could she borrow my truck because she needed to pick up some furniture that she bought...so could she pick the truck up and leave her car with me to drive to the station in the morning...

Now, I must admit...I don't let just anybody drive my truck...my OWN BROTHER can't borrow my truck...but I was like sure, I know her, the type of person she is...we looks out for each other...so no problem
So she came and got the keys last night and this morning I got up and went to her 90 something white little Saturn (she even cleaned it out and everything so that I would be comfortable...just goes to show her character...that may not seem big to you, BUT knowing how her car, or any car, for that matter can look at times...I appreciated the gesture...she makes sure that folks are ok...just like I do...we looks out) and I am off to New Carrolton Metro station (That's right NO MORE LANDOVER FOR ME....)
So I am on Route 50...now don't get me wrong this little joint got some pick up fo real....and the stirring wheel starts to vibrating and shaking and all I can do is just laugh...I mean I was DYING laughing in this little car...I mean I was laughing so hard I was crying....WHY?!?!?

Because man it just took me back....my first car in 1996 was a 1985 Renault Alliance...that's right some little two door black European car that looked like one of those old boxed Sentras that my Dad got from some shady dude in NE off Bladensburg Road...he said that was my ding up car...he knew what he was doing because I surely ding that joker up...and talk about a wheel vibrating..I don't think that thing could go past 60 at the most 65...my father knew what he was doing...as crazy as I thought he was for putting me in that MESS he knew...

I never forget one time me and my boyfriend at the time was at the gas station by his house on Marlboro Pike...I hit the little pole by the pump...now this just goes to show how very EXTRA I was...I was freaking out...like NO, you drive I can't do this anymore...he looked at me and as calmly as he could said...T, you got to get back in there and drive the car, you won't get over hitting something until you keep driving...NOW that's a good dude because honestly...Puh Leeze...my response would have probably been..."Gurl stop tripping and drive!"

Anyways...YOU wanna talk about a BUCKET..that car, had NO AC (imagine sticking to the seats...trying to go somewhere cute and getting there all hot to death...maybe that's part of the reason I don't like the summer), had Yellow peather seats with dirty tan carpet, and after having it for about six months when the spring hit, oh, you could NOT start that joint up more than four times in ONE day, or it would flood out...so many times my brother had to come and get me or find where I was at to start the car or take me home...

But that was MY ride though...me and my girls rode that joker til the wheels fell off! Next up was a 1992 Hyundai Excel Hatchback...again NO AC...but at least this time the seats was cloth(what was my father thinking? all these little cars...I am so surprised I didn't kill myself...serisouly, I drive like a fool now...in a truck..imagine me in a little car)
That car was alright too for about two years...until it too decided it wanted to only cut on and off when IT wanted to...

I have been truck happy ever since 1999...so 3 years of buckets wasn't too bad...although in the end that 97 Ford Explorer Sport got real bucket like...heat wasn't working right, windshield started leaking...I mean it was a mess, BUT I got a good 100K+ miles out of her...so I can't complain...

I don't know just driving that Saturn this morning just made me remember all the buckets I have driven and ridden in...man memories...and it made me only appreciate how far I have come!

Man that Saturn is a bucket fo real....& I can't stop laughing about it

My little sister has been doing really well saving and she will have her new car/truck soon...she just graduated last year from undergrad so she has some time...Rock on lil sis..Rock on....and thanks for the memories...I'm talking like I still don't have to drive that joker home...I am TOO funny today!

Ah man, ah man!!! Tip's (my nickname for Tiffany) 97 Ford Explorer Sport Smoke.....man, that joker was a bucket!!! She had that when I met her and she would swing by my spot in Largo and we would go to class together (Bowie). And let me just tell you how not only did we figure out that to get the heat going you had to put that joker on low, but her damn seat would tear your fingers up, ya heard?!!!

How...you may be wondering? Well the knob was missing on the jown to let the passenger seat up....which you had to do since it was a 2 door!!! That thang used to tear my fingers up because it was NOT easy!!!

We had an episode for my 25th bday that required us to get unlady like with some disrespectful guy right....so imagine me trying to hop out the front and hurry and let that raggedy ass seat up so that the other two females could get out so we could handle our bizness!!! It wasn't funny at the time, but it definitely was afterwards.

But that heat had us going for a while. I'm talkin' bout frost-bitten toes and fingers....and I stayed with some gloves on!!! LMAO.

But the sweetest thing about Smoke, was that when Tip traded her in for her latest truck....the Bum ass dealership did NOT know of all her hidden problems....we kept that to ourselves...even from her father UNTIL we left the lot!!! LMAO

Get it Smoke!!!

Guurrrrrrrrllll
and my dag on driver seat wouldn't move! Remember that, so you had NO CHOICE but to get in on the passenger side...man...we had to put the heat right above the maximum heat level for it to blow...

Yeah the did think that they had "got" a sister...NO SIR...you got, got homie...AND remeber the check engine light kept coming on too before I traded it in...all I kept thinking, Please don't let that light come on while they testing it, please don't let that light come on while they testing it....man that was funny...

Good times! Buckets!

Lol, you are a trip. Hey, wanted to make sure you didn't think I was trying to trivialize your dreams at all. I definitely believe that the Almighty can get to us how He gets to us, and dreams being a big way. You're actually the third person I've met who has that trend.

Peace,
Kep.

LOL...the times of the "buckets". Girl, I had the offical "back it in" 83 Datsun Nissan Sentra. Yes ladies & gentlemen, a Datsun Nissan Sentra. This thing was from the Datsun days of Nissan...LOL!!! In 94 when my parents bought it for me for my 16th birthday, it already had 120,000 miles on it. By the time that car was off of the road, it had 220,000 miles on it. Having said that, you can tell that it was rolling for a good minute.

Ok, after having the car for like a year, I would have troubles with starting it up after turning it off. So this means that after me & my girls would be leaving the mall, we would officially be stuck...LOL!!! My grandpa, who was the biggest unlicensed Mechanic in Annapolis (he would fix people cars all of the time & made some good money but he never worked at a shop AND he knew what he was doing & talking about) would have to come rescue me EVERY SINGLE TIME. At first I would always just pull in...as beginner drivers usually do because backing in seems so extra &/or too complicated...anyway, once the car started acting a fool, my grandpa would tell me to always back in because you never know when you would need a jump. So after going through this several more times & him yelling to "back in", it finally got drilled in my head & to this day, this is the reason why I ONLY back in any car I am driving.

I also learned how to jump a car & I went NO WHERE without those jumper cables. They were my life story. I aslo learned a lot about starters, batteries, & alternators being that I went through my fair share of each of those.

Fortunately, I had AC & heat & I went any & every damn where with that car...as you probably could tell from the mileage. Ok, also in the first year of having that car, I ran into a parked car trying to avoid hitting a dog...a damn dog...can you believe it? Well, my brother was in the 11th grade (I was in the 12th) & he was in Auto Body Mechanics in Votech so he fixed & painted the side of the car that I damaged. I only had liability so the insurance company wouldn't have fixed my car. But before he fixed it, I was riding around with a white fender on a burgundy car for like 2 months. Talking about embarrassing...LOL!!!

Ok, by 96 I was out of that car & my brother took it over. My brother had it from 96 until 98. This is why it accumulated so many miles but it went on strong. I loved that car.

Well, I know I don't have any "no heat, no AC, seat broke/stuck, window malfunction, etc." bucket stories but nevertheless, this was a "bucket" to me.

And that's all that matters...having to ride around with a white bumper and jumper cables because at any given time the car wouldn't start...yeah its official, its a BUCKET!
