What is "success" to you???

being that i am in this funk of things or fog or whatever you would like to call it...
last night i reached out to my sister-in-law and she told me that what i was feeling was normal that many folks go through the funk or the whole, the thing is NOT to let the whole consume me...i again realized that i am a lot stronger than i thought and that i don't give myself enough credit...but still i wonder...
what is happiness for TC? what is success for TC?

i wonder to all my fellow blogger out there...

What is success to you? What makes you tick, what does it mean to reach a goal...

furthermore, what does it mean to you to be happy, what defines happiness and fulfillment...

many times we can easily get caught up in the "everyday" cycle of life...get up go to work, go home, workout, eat dinner, sleep, get up and do the same thing all over again...

are we just existing? what is living?

Hello T.C. You posed some good questions. I am at that age and point in my life where I am trying to figure out how to actually "live" and not just exist. My life seems so repetitive that it doesn't seem like I am living. Is that a fair assumption/representation? God wakes me up in my house every morning to go to a good job in my vehicle. That alone is more than some people can hope for. I thank the Lord regularly for all of the blessings he has and will continue to bestow upon me.

So, you ask me what is "success" to me. Right now I beleive success to me is making a goal of something that is fullfilling to me and accomplishing that goal. Success is dreaming and following those dreams. Success is trying. Success is never giving up. I do not want to become complacent or give up on dreams, fullfillment, and happiness. I want to always push to learn from my mistakes, learn something everyday, and continue to dream and find a way and the will to chase them.

Happiness > Success.

Success != Happiness.

Happiness is relative to the individual. Different things make different people happy. I would posture that happiness for everyone has to deal with feeling good about themselves, who they are, and where they are headed in life.

Success to me means doing that one thing that makes life worth living. I used to base my success on monetary gain and status gain, but as I've gotten older I've based it on how satified I feel with my life.

To be happy means to accept those things that you can and cannont change without any hestiation. Pure happiness to me is looking into my son's face and knowing that I was blessed with such a precious gift and not all able to do so.

I think success is being at peace with yourself and everything around you. It may not be peaceful to get to that point, but once you do that's what success is

Success is this scenario:

Person 1: IF you had NO limitations, no fears, no time constraints, etc., what would you do?

Person 2: Exactly what I'm doing right now.

WOW!

However, I too struggle to define success in the WAY I LIVE my life. Putting it on paper (or screen) comes a whole heap easier than living it out. If it isn't one thing, it's another. To me, success is the manifestation of FULFILLMENT. One is full and filled knowing that they are doing exactly what s/he was meant to do. They say you won't fail if you don't quit.

I wish I could give you some advice but I am struggling with this as well and have been in a bit of a funk lately... part of me just feels like I should be farther along...

and being in an industry where not many women... let alone black women are in charge... I thought it was going to be easier after obtaining my masters... and its actually been harder because now your looked at as the black chicks that thinks she knows it all

I think we are always harder on ourselves than anyone else will be so I am just diligently trying to be content
